To provide support for a Site Supervisor position at IS 49 in Staten Island where their school-based Open Heart-Open Mind Program was recently implemented. They place teams of professional Social Workers on-site in New York City public elementary and middle schools on a full-time basis to support the social and emotional development of inner city children at multiple risks for academic failure. They perform a vital role in supporting the whole school community, improving school climate, and providing essential full classroom, individual and family, and small group intervention, counseling and support.
